Nikolaou Organic Retsina 2303
Incredible green pine resin aromas. Clean with lovely clear fruit, so fresh and dry. Flavours of citrus with a beautiful fresh pine green strand that drives a wedge through the centre of the wine. Clearly not a wine to appeal to everyone, but this demonstrates a modern organic approach to a traditional style. The flavours evolve over a nice length of time.

Nikolaou Estate, Nemea, Peloponnese
Nikolaou Estate, currently run by Dimitris Nikolaou, was established in 1935 by his grandfather (also Dimitris Nikolaou). His father Giannis built the current winery in 1984, fresh out of his oenological studies in Bordeaux. In 1999 the winery moved to organic farming and low intervention methods to protect the environment and the unique ecosystem of the Asopos river, while raising the quality and purity of the wines. The 12ha estate produces and bottles wines from Agiorgitiko, Malagousia, Kydonitsa, Assyrtiko, Moschofilero as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah in small quantities.
