Nikolaou Estate Organic Nemea PDO Agiorgitiko

Dimitris Nikolaou learnt his trade in France and his wines reflect a subtlety and finesse that is not often found in Nemea, but perfect for bringing out the undoubted appeal of the Agiorgitiko variety. The wine is a relatively light 13% compared to its neighbours. The aromas are renascent of the finest Barbaresco in Piedmont, almost Burgundian in it seductive appeal. Incredibly subtle throughout. Stunning vanilla, black cherries, and spiced plums. So well integrated, the oak is scarcely recognisable but it’s there. A real beauty that shows the future potential for Nemea. Finishes long and fruity. Beautiful.

Nikolaou Estate, Nemea, Peloponnese

Nikolaou Estate, currently run by Dimitris Nikolaou, was established in 1935 by his grandfather (also Dimitris Nikolaou). His father Giannis built the current winery in 1984, fresh out of his oenological studies in Bordeaux. In 1999 the winery moved to organic farming and low intervention methods to protect the environment and the unique ecosystem of the Asopos river, while raising the quality and purity of the wines. The 12ha estate produces and bottles wines from Agiorgitiko, Malagousia, Kydonitsa, Assyrtiko, Moschofilero as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah in small quantities.
