Rouvalis Winery was founded in 1990 by Angelos Rouvalis and is today run by his daughter Theodora Rouvalis and her husband Antonio Ruiz Pañego, both trained oenologists with professional

experience in Chile, New Zealand, and Burgundy. The estate works with both indigenous Greek and international varieties, with a clear focus on expressing the distinctive conditions of Aigialeia.

The uniquely beautiful vineyards lie on the steep slopes above Aigion in the northern Peloponnese, overlooking the Corinthian Gulf, at altitudes ranging from around 500–1,050 metres above sea level. This is one of the few north-facing viticultural zones in Greece, benefiting from cooling northerly breezes in summer, while the east–west mountain ridge of the central Peloponnese provides shelter from hotter southern winds. Altitude, exposure, and proximity to the sea create large diurnal temperature swings, allowing grapes to ripen fully while retaining freshness and aromatic clarity.

The steep, well-drained slopes and constant air movement also limit disease pressure, supporting organic viticulture. Rouvalis’ wines reflect these conditions, combining lots of freshness, balance, and a strong sense of place from one of Greece’s most distinctive mountain vineyard regions.
