Kokotos Estate, Stamata, Attica

Kokotos Estate was established in 1980 by Anne and George Kokotos on the northern slopes of Mount Pendeli, near the village of Stamata, north-east of Athens. The vineyards lie at around 450 metres above sea level and are planted on sloping sites with sandy-clay soils over limestone and slate. The soils are of moderate fertility, but rich in trace elements, which contribute to the production of aromatic, full-bodied wines with good structure and the ability to age well. Viticulture is organic, with a mix of indigenous Greek and international varieties grown at altitude. The good soil drainage, combined with abundant sunshine and a favourable microclimate, ensures early ripening and excellent maturity of quality grapes with a good balance of sugars, acidity, and aromatics.
