Rizes Red Pepper and Tomato Paste Picante 200g
The Rizes delicatessen brand is highly respected in Greece and this Sweet Red Pepper and Picante Tomato mix is a thick, homemade paste that perfectly combines sweet, chargrilled red peppers with olive oil, tomatoes and hot green peppers. The mixture has a rich texture a bit like a pesto, an intense aroma and a spicy after-taste, ideal for those who like it hot. The peppers are charcoal smoked and blackened, peeled, deseeded by hand and then ground and simmered for hours along with the oil, spice and seasoning. Every jar is made during September and October when the peppers are at their ripest and this recipe has been handed down from families in Florina and Pella, where Greece meets North Macedonia and eastern Albania.
