Kumilio, Kimi, Central Greece

The Lambrou family created Kumilio in 2015 to celebrate the produce of their homeland, Kimi. The family’s strong connection with the land, along with their love of figs, the most precious of local commodities, has guided them as they built Kumilio. Nowadays, they cultivate over a thousand fig trees at Kaddi, a Kimi village, where they also keep a small unit for sorting and processing. The fig has played an enormous role in Greek nutrition for millennia; this beautiful inflorescence combines a sweet taste with rare nutritional value. To its founders, Kumilio represents the collective memory of Kimi’s people. And the family respectfully follows traditional cultivating and processing techniques, which have been developed on the island over centuries. They have also innovated by producing delicious chocolate-dipped figs with nuts.
