Acheon Roditis 'Fox' Skin Contact
This fascinating wine is produced from a pink coloured clone of Roditis called 'Fox Roditis'. Grown in a single vineyard at 800 metres above Agialeia, near the Corinth Canal. The grapes are destemmed then crushed and fermented on the skins at 15 degrees for 25 days! Then the skins are removed and the wine stays in tank on its lees for 3 months. Following racking the wine is bottled unfiltered. Dark orange colour, aromas of peach essence and orange blossom. Wonderfully clean, dry, peach and nectarine flavours with some background tannin that adds real structure. There's a nice long satisfying finish. Rich Moussaka, barbequed pork, slow cooked pork belly. Brilliant.

Acheon Winery, Aigialeia, Peloponnese
Acheon Winery is a small, family-owned winery, run by two sisters – Sosanna and Katerina. Their focus is on the vinification of indigenous grape varieties such as the Roditis and Sideritis, cultivated from the seaside at Aigio to the mountainous region of Aigialeia. Following the traditional winemaking passed down the generations, which we now call minimal intervention, the sisters aim to produce top quality wines from indigenous Greek varieties that naturally express the terroir and history of the region.
