# "

Type: Red P.G.I Florina
Varietal Composition: Syrah 60%, Xinomavro 20%, Merlot 20%.
Region: Amyndeon, North Greece.
Ageing: Thirteen months in Allie-Bertrange oak casks medium-light toast. No treatment or filtration before bottling, and twelve months in bottles.
Analytical Data: Alcohol: 14,5% vol., Total acidity: 6,2 g/l, Residual sugar: 3,3 g/l, pH: 3,53
Tasting Characteristics: Deep ruby colour with purple hints. Powerful, pungent aromas of sweet cherry, candied plum and toasty vanillin oak. Full bodied and deep in dark fruit flavors, with a peppery and strong oak spicy accents background. The solid tannins build through the finish but there is plenty of supporting depth of fruit here, not to mention a bright acid lift on the back that adds energy. A vin de Garde with a great future.

ALPHA ESTATE is situated in the “AMPELIA” region, in the heart of the Amyndeon district, an area of VQPRD wines in the northern part of Greece. Two factors contribute to the special character of ALPHA ESTATE grapes: meso-climate and soil. Moderate temperatures and heavy winter rains create ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen whilstoor soils with good drainage create a mild water deficit for the vines, resulting in small berries with intense red colour and concentrated flavours and aromas.
The privately owned vineyard of the estate is situated on a plateau at an altitude of 620-710 m with a northwest exposure, covering a total area of 65 hectares. The local climate is characterized by cold winters with sufficient rainfall and snow to provide the vines with the necessary water supplies to endure the relatively dry summer. Additionally, two neighbouring lakes contribute to the existence of a mild semi-continental climate perfect for the cultivation of both foreign and indigenous red and white grape varieties.
Alpha Estate’s vineyards produce the following grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Malagouzia, Pinot Noir, Negro Amaro, Montepulciano, Tannat, Barbera, Mavrodaphne, Merlot, Syrah and Xinomavro.
